Podcast Guide

Our service messages are available through the convenience of a podcast. Apple’s free iTunes software is the preferred method for receiving the podcast, but you may use any standard “Podcatcher” software you choose. Software for receiving podcasts is available for nearly all computers, tablets, smartphones, and portable media devices.

Apple iPhone, iPod, and iPad users will normally already have Apple iTunes installed, but these devices are not required in order to use iTunes. Anyone with a PC or Apple computer can download the free software. (Note: While Apple requires a credit or debit card number for user account registration, the account and our podcast are both entirely free of charge.)

The free software is available here.

Instructions for iTunes

1. Go directly to the podcast page in iTunes by clicking here. (If you experience a problem with this link there are alternate instructions available.)
2. Once you are on the “Zion Tabernacle Audio Podcast” screen you should click “Subscribe Free” on the left side of the page.

From this point forward, you do not need to interact with the iTunes store. You can manage and listen to this podcast by selecting the “Podcasts” node in the left pane of your iTunes software. Initially, iTunes will download the first “episode” of the podcast. Then it will check every 24 hours for new podcasts. You have the option of adjusting this check interval using the “Settings” button at the bottom of iTunes. You may also check for new content by right clicking on the podcast title and choosing “Update Podcast”. This simply allows you to get newly posted content immediately, rather than waiting for iTunes to check for you.

Of course if you have an iPhone, iPod, or iPad you can sync it with your computer by using your cable or the new wireless sync functionality Apple has added in iOS 5. You can also download podcasts directly to your device.

Instructions for Android

You can search your favorite app store and use one of the many third party podcatchers available there. Once you have installed an application you will choose to “Add a Feed”. You will need the podcast feed URL. This is:

http://content.churchpipe.com/zion-media/podcasts/audio-feed.xml

(Note: Google’s own Android “Listen” app does not appear to support the MP4 file format used by this and other podcasters.)

Instructions for Other Non-iTunes Software

You can use any standard “Podcatcher” software. There is a small list of common applications available here on Wikipedia. You can also use your favorite search engine to find an application to use. You would typically include the search term “Podcast Software” or “Podcatcher”. You might also include terms describing your platform or device. E.g. “Windows 7”, “Linux”, or “Android”. Once you have installed an application you will choose to “Add a Feed”. You will need the podcast feed URL. This is:
